Their towing service, which I called on through my insurance, was timely, friendly and shared with me their thoughts on shops in the area. They towed my car into their shop. For that service, I will give them 5 stars. As for the rest, I was referred to them by family who'd used them for years. I knew that their prices were above average but, since I'd been told they did great work, I decided to go with them as my regular shop was booked and my brake lines were shot. I checked the national average and so I expected to pay around $500. The man on the phone, however, wouldn't give me a quote. When my car arrived there, someone else called to ask me what was wrong with the car even though I'd told the first guy. Later, I got a call stating that not only were both lines leaking, but my rear brakes were also leaking and everything(!) needed to be replaced. For the lines, he said over $800, and almost as much for the rear brake assembly, both of which he insisted needed to be done right away. I pointed out that the price was very high and he said they could tow my car out of there, indicating that he knew he had me in a bad position and didn't care. It's been a long time since I've had a repair shop treat me like a victim, but I had to have the car fixed fast, and I didn't know of anywhere else to take my car. I told him to do the lines only, since I suspected that he'd exaggerated about the rear brake assembly, and I certainly didn't want to pay about $1,600 for my money pit car. I checked with other sources for the actual price I should've paid for both jobs, including a competing shop in this area, and it looks like they had overcharged by $200-300 per job! I also had my brakes inspected at my regular shop, and they confirmed the correct prices were around that much lower than what DHA said, confirmed that my lines had been replaced, and said that there was no immediate reason to replace the rear brake assemblies and that they were NOT leaking. They said that it'd be fine to wait until spring to take care of the brakes and that the drums didn't need to be replaced. They also told me that the brakes had worn unevenly, and this had been because I never used my parking brake and didn't know that it auto-adjusted the positions of the two brake pads. I realize that there are a lot of 5-star reviews, but this is what actually happened. I'd take a lie-detector test and swear to it in court. I'll never use DHA again, even if they're the only shop in town.
